ConcertsSt Edmundsbury Cathedral is a popular venue for concerts and a major venue for the annual Bury St Edmunds Festival. It regularly hosts international performers, and boasts two superb musical instruments: the Cathedral organ is a large four manual instrument built in 2010 by Harrison and Harrison and the grand piano is a Steinway model D (2007). | ![]() |
The concert capacity of the Cathedral is currently 726, and television monitors can be fitted for the benefit of areas with less good sight lines. The Cathedral can also offer modern and spacious changing facilities, interval drinks and private receptions for sponsors of VIPs. Tickets are usually sold through the Theatre Royal, a stone's throw from the cathedral and with an online booking form.

The Cathedral is an increasingly popular venue for theatrical productions. Both the Nave and the Cloister Garth can be used, and provide stunning backdrops for an evening's theatre. As well as local groups, major stars such as Philip Voss and Robert Hardy have performed here in recent years, and the Cathedral has been a venue for musical productions by the Suffolk Young People's Theatre.
