St Edmundsbury Cathedral Choir works to the highest standards to provide music for the services of the Cathedral. There is no cathedral choir school and the boys attend many different primary and middle schools, some travelling considerable distances each day to attend. The Lay Clerks come from many different walks of life and are also all volunteers. Additionally, there is one Choral Scholar, usually a gap year student working at one of the local preparatory schools. The full choir sings four services a week, while the boys sing Evensong on Thursdays alone and rehearse most mornings before school. The Cathedral Choir also undertakes special services, diocesan visits, radio and television broadcasts, recordings and international tours.
