Visiting

Pilgrims and tourists have been visiting the site of St Edmundsbury Cathedral for over a thousand years. Today, we offer all who come to the Cathedral a warm welcome, the opportunity to pray and the chance to explore on their own or as part of a tour.

The Cathedral is open daily from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. There is no charge for admission but donations are always welcome.

Guided Tours are available until end of September, daily (except Sundays), at 11.30 a.m. These tours are open to members of the public and do not need to be pre-booked. Groups should contact the Visitor Officer.

Suffolk is the home county of Bartholomew Gosnold, who captained the Godspeed, one of the three ships which made the journey in 1606/07 to the New World.

St Edmundsbury Cathedral was pleased to be involved in the celebrations in 2007 to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, Virginia.
