At the West End you will see the baptismal font. Its columns are medieval with Victorian decoration and a 20 th century canopy which is a war memorial. The elegant nave of the present church now stretches ahead of you. It was built by John Wastell, a great Tudor architect, whose works include Kings' College in Cambridge and Canterbury Cathedral. The rebuild, which began in 1503, took about 50 years to complete. Beyond the nave the altar, magnificent crossing and the quire beyond the nave all designed by Stephen Dykes Bower and build between 1964 and 1970.
