The Reverned Matthew Vernon was installed as Canon Pastor on Sunday 8 February. The primary role of the Canon Pastor is pastoral care — looking after members of the Cathedral Community and those who come to the Cathedral occasionally. This includes hospital visiting, home communions, and trying to keep tabs on a large number of people. Some want to be part of a community, others come to the Cathedral to be anonymous. We try and respect all. He also looks after all baptisms, weddings, and funerals: working with people.
