Who's Who - The Head Verger Mark
Utting is the Head Verger. He runs a team of three vergers, one caretaker and
a cleaner who keep the church and Cathedral Centre in good order on a
day-to-day basis and prepare it for the many special services and events
which occur each year. He liaises with the Precentor and the Administrator
and plays a strategic role in the devising and executing of major events at
the Cathedral. The vergers are the key agents for the good conduct of
services as they proceed and have an important role generally in the security
