There are two Church of England schools within the Cathedral's parish boundaries and one which used to be within the parish but has long since relocated to another part of Bury St Edmunds but which is still part of the cathedral foundation. St Edmundsbury Primary School and St James' Middle School are close by the Cathedral and King Edward VI Upper School not too far away. All three schools are an important part of the Cathedral's community and the Chapter is represented on all three governing bodies. The schools come to the Cathedral for educational visits, specials services, concerts and also play their part in the Cathedral's routine services from time to time.
